Outage caused by rodent chewing through cable

A rodent chewing through cable caused CenturyLink service problems for hours Oct. 29 in Tucumcari.

“We dispatched a repair team and were able to restore all services by 7:30 p.m. MDT,” Courtney Morton, senior communications manager at CenturyLink, stated in an email the next day. “CenturyLink is committed to providing reliable services, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers.”

Morton didn’t state how many were affected, except that “internet service was impacted for only a small amount of customers.”

Morton didn’t state how long the outage was. Several CenturyLink users in Tucumcari reported outages starting about noon that day.

A CenturyLink customer-service representative said by phone the company serves about 275 clients in Tucumcari.
