Students earn excellence award

Journalism students at House Municipal Schools are among the recipients of the Excellence in Student Achievement Award from the New Mexico School Boards Association.

The awards, sponsored by the association, are given to those selected by local boards of education in New Mexico who have played a role in improving student achievement in their school district. A total of 64 school boards participated in this year’s program, and 115 award recipients were selected.

The award will be given to the House journalism students, instructed by Emily Priddy, at the school board’s May 20 meeting. In the program’s first year of existence, three House students won awards at the New Mexico Student Press Association/New Mexico Activities Association journalism competition in Las Cruces in January.
