1969: The Federal Aviation Administration approved a $9,139 grant for construction of T-hangar taxiways at Tucumcari Municipal Airport. News of the grant arrived at the newspaper by telegram from U.S. Sen. Joseph Montoya of New Mexico.

• The Odeon Theatre in Tucumcari was screening a Dean Martin film, “The Wrecking Crew.” The Canal Drive-In Theatre on Tucumcari’s west side advertised a double feature of motorcycle movies, “Hell’s Belles” and “Born Losers.”

• The Safeway market in Tucumcari advertised sliced bacon for 69 cents a pound. Cooper’s Market in Tucumcari advertised Kornland thick-sliced bacon for $1.39 for a two-pound package.
