1969: Roy Rumbaugh, administrator at Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari, announced an $800,000 special bond election for Aug. 19 to build an extended care and nursing-home facility addition, which would be attached to the current hospital. At present, there is no skilled nursing home or extended-care facility in Quay County.

• David Snider, vice president of Trans Central Airlines, and Tony Elias, chamber chairman out of Las Vegas, New Mexico, met with the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce at noon yesterday to discuss the possibility of the airline coming to Tucumcari. Trans Central Airlines has routes to Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Trinidad, Pueblo and Denver. The airline was considering new passenger and freight routes from Albuquerque and Las Vegas to Tucumcari and Amarillo.

• The Odeon Theatre in Tucumcari advertised the screening of an Elvis Presley movie, “The Trouble with Girls.” The Canal Drive-In in Tucumcari advertised a double feature of “3 in the Attic” and “Wild in the Streets.”
