Twenty-five local positions on ballot Nov. 5

The Quay County Clerk’s Office reported last week that 25 local positions would be on the ballot for the Nov. 5 election.

The filing day for all candidates will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at the clerk’s office at 301 S. Third St. in Tucumcari.

Packets for prospective candidates will be available at the clerk’s office starting Monday.

The following entities and positions will be on the local election ballot:

• City of Tucumcari: Districts 1, 2 and 3, four-year terms; District 4, two-year term; municipal judge, two-year term.

• Tucumcari Municipal Schools: Districts 1, 4 and 5, four-year terms; District 2, two-year term.

• Logan Municipal Schools: Positions 1, 2 and 3, each with four-year terms.

• San Jon Municipal Schools: Positions 2 and 5, each four-year terms.

• House Municipal Schools: Positions 3, 4 and 5, each four-year terms.

• Mesalands Community College: District 2 and 4, each six-year terms.

• Canadian River Soil & Water Conservation District: Positions 1, 2 and 5, four-year terms.

• Southwest Quay Soil & Water Conservation District: Positions 1, 2 and 5, four-year terms.

The last day a voter may register to be eligible to vote in the election or make any address changes to their affidavit is Oct. 8. A resident can verify his or her eligibility, register to vote and make necessary changes to information by visiting nmvote.org.
