Serving the High Plains
The New Mexico School Boards Association recently honored a House Municipal Schools board member for his longtime service to the district.
The association gave Bill Noland a 24-year service award. According to a news release, Noland first was elected to the House Board of Education in 1979 and served two terms through 1987. He returned to the board in 2001 and continues to serve there. Voters in November elected Noland to a seventh term.
Noland has served as president, vice president and secretary of the House board.
Noland works for the U.S. Postal Service, operates his farm and ranch and considers his highest achievement as having three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Noland also has served on the New Mexico School Boards Association’s board of directors.
Noland was honored Dec. 5-7 during the association’s annual convention in Albuquerque.
