Logan boys take last-minute loss

The Logan boys basketball team began its Christmas break with a disappointment — a 52-50 last-minute loss Saturday at Boise City, Oklahoma.

Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said the game was tied with 30 seconds left.

“We had an open look and missed,” he said of the game’s final possessions. “They got the ball back with about five second left and banked in a free-throw line jumper at the buzzer to beat us.”

Griffiths said the Wildcats (2-4) also converted crucial free throws, and his Longhorns committed a couple of critical turnovers down the stretch.

Garrett Bollinger led the Longhorns (7-3) with 14 points, while Dante Sanchez added 12.

Logan 67, Des Moines 41

Sanchez scored 30 points to lead Logan’s 67-41 drubbing of visiting Des Moines on Friday.

Wyatt Wright added 15 points for the Longhorns.

“We came out with a lot of energy early in the game and were able to build a pretty good lead,” Griffiths said. “We saw a lot of good things from several different guys.”

The Demons fell to 2-6.
