Three coronavirus cases reported in Logan

The New Mexico Department of Health on Wednesday reported three confirmed cases of coronavirus in Quay County, all in the Logan ZIP code.

According to the DOH website, the latest cases are two males and one female. One was age 80 to 89; the other two were age 60 to 69.

The total number of cases in the county has 28 in the Tucumcari ZIP code, six in the Logan ZIP code and three in the San Jon ZIP code.

The total number of cases in the county grew to 37 since the pandemic began. Wednesday's cases were the first in the county in a week.

Six have been deemed to have recovered from the disease, with one death reported in April from a resident who contracted the virus in Florida.

A total of 1,355 people have been tested for the virus in Quay County.

Statewide, the total number of cases Wednesday was 180, which remained at a relatively low level from two weeks ago. New Mexico has recorded more than 22,800 cases since the pandemic began.

Two deaths were reported Wednesday, bringing the total to 695 in the state.

Bernalillo County had the most cases in New Mexico with more than 5,200. However, Dona Ana and Lea counties each on Wednesday surprised the number of cases in Bernalillo.

A total of 9,744 people in New Mexico have been deemed as recovered from the virus.

East of Tucumcari, Amarillo had more than 800 active cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

In the U.S., a total of 5.1 million people have been confirmed with the virus, with more than 165,000 deaths.
