One new COVID-19 case reported Tuesday in Logan

The New Mexico Department of Health on Tuesday confirmed one case of corornavirus in the Logan ZIP code.

The latest case was a man age 70 to 79, according to the DOH website.

Logan has seen 16 confirmed cases in seven days, raising its total to 20 since the pandemic began. Outbreaks prompted a delay in the start of classes at Logan Municipal Schools for three weeks and the closure of Ute Lake State Park through Aug. 25.

The total in the county since the pandemic began rose to 51. Twenty-nine cases have been reported in Tucumcari, 20 in Logan and four in San Jon.

A total of 15 people in the county have been designated as recovered from the disease, with one death in April from a resident who contracted the virus in Florida.

A total of 1,455 people in the county have been tested for COVID-19.

Statewide, a total of 79 cases were reported Tuesday, which was the second straight day the tally fell below the 100 mark. A total of 23,579 in the state have been confirmed with the virus.

Five deaths were reported Tuesday, bringing the total to 723.

A total of 111 people in New Mexico are hospitalized with COVID-19. A total of 10,802 have been deemed to have recovered from the disease.

In the U.S., more than 5.4 million people have been confirmed with the virus, with more than 171,000 deaths through Tuesday afternoon.
