Two COVID-19 cases reported in Tucumcari

Two more confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported Sunday in Quay County.

According to data from the New Mexico Department of Health, both of the new cases were age 50 to 59 and resided in the Tucumcari ZIP code.

Four cases have been reported in Tucumcari in four days.

The total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began rose to 71. That included 36 in Tucumcari, 33 in Logan and five in San Jon.

A total of 44 people in the county have been deemed as recovered from the virus. A total of 1,811 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Quay County since the pandemic began.

Two deaths have been reported in the county since the pandemic began.

Also, the state’s COVID-19 rapid-response database shows a team was referred Friday to a confirmed case with an employee at PMG Family Medicine at 402 E. Miel de Luna Ave. in Tucumcari. Entities must follow coronavirus safety protocol after such a referral.

In the state Sunday, a total of 67 people were confirmed with the virus, bringing the overall total to more than 27,500.

Two deaths were reported in the state Sunday, bringing the total in the overall total to 849.

Sixty-four people in the state remain hospitalized because of COVID-19. A total of 15,412 New Mexicans have been designated as recovered from the virus.

In the U.S., more than 6.7 million people have been confirmed with the virus, with 199,000 deaths through Sunday afternoon.
