August 4, 2021

The Roadrunner Lodge Motel in Tucumcari again placed high in USA Today’s annual 10Best Readers’ Choice contest for the Best Roadside Motel in the United States.

This time, though, the Roadrunner finished in the very top spot. USA Today and 10Best.com announced the winner Friday.

The Roadrunner Lodge Motel finished fifth in the Best Roadside Motel standings in 2020.

Owner David Brenner expressed gratitude towards his guests for their support.

"We are once again so very fortunate to have received recognition and especially to have placed first,” he said in a news release. “We owe this award to the thousands of fine travelers we have welcomed through our doors since reopening our once-abandoned property."

10Best.com stated this about the motel: “This restored motel on Route 66 blends mid-century style with modern conveniences like premium mattresses, plush towels, free wifi and HD TVs with more than 120 channels. The historic property is truly a mom-and-pop operation.”

The Roadrunner Lodge Motel also rated in the top 10% on the TripAdvisor travel review platform.

The Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari also fared well in the 10Best rankings, finishing seventh this year..

A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to pick the initial nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular online vote.
