Logan shuts out Menaul

Logan’s eight-man football squad shut out Menaul 50-0 on Friday night in a road game at Albuquerque that was halted during the third quarter due to the mercy rule.

Hayden Judd scored three touchdowns for Logan, and teammate Brock Burns threw for two touchdowns and scored another.

Park Strong also scored a rushing TD for the Longhorns.

“Menaul was a much more physical team,” Logan assistant coach Kyle Griffiths said, who temporarily has taken over leading the team while head coach Dwayne Roberts is caring for his ailing parents. “We had a few mistakes but, overall, I felt like we played well.”

The Longhorns improved to 3-0 overall. It was Menaul’s season-opener.

Logan plays Magdalena at home at 7 p.m. Friday. Magdalena (0-2) lost 62-12 on Friday to Tatum, a foe that is in Logan’s district.
