One month after seeing record sales of legal marijuana, Tucumcari did it again.
Total sales of recreational and medical marijuana in the city of Tucumcari totaled more than $356,000 in August, edging the previous record of $352,000 in July, according to a news release Wednesday from the Cannabis Control Division of the state’s Regulation and Licensing Department.
Total adult-use recreational sales in Tucumcari were nearly $293,000 in August, with more than $63,000 in medicinal marijuana sales.
At least seven marijuana dispensaries are operating in Tucumcari, with more planned.
Logan also recorded more than $18,000 in cannabis sales in August, compared to over $25,000 in the previous month.
Total sales numbers for other eastern New Mexico municipalities in August:
• Clovis, $1.11 million;
• Hobbs, $1.65 million;
• Portales, $337,248;
• Clayton, $170,152;
• Texico, $78,005;
• Tatum, $70,698;
• Fort Sumner, $38,077;
• Lovington, $8,599.
The state’s population centers of Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces and Hobbs saw the highest sales numbers.
