• Saturday — Kickoff to Christmas. Tucumcari MainStreet will host the annual start of the holiday season at the Tucumcari Railroad Depot from 3 to 5 p.m. with a visit by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Santa will give out tokens and a special gift for the first 200 children to see “The Polar Express” at the Odeon Theatre at 6 p.m. Tucumcari MainStreet also will give out shopping totes and “Shop Tucumcari” stickers.

• Dec. 3 — Glow on 66 Christmas Light Parade. The annual parade on Second Street and Route 66 will include a $500 prize for best float. Those who wish to enter should call (575) 404-6480, (575) 461-1694 or email [email protected].

• Dec. 9-10 — Christmas Carriage Rides. Tucumcari Rawhide Days is presenting this event with food, music and horse-drawn carriage rides through downtown Tucumcari. Tickets are on sale at tinyurl.com/2p96ny23. Rides start from the Tucumcari Historic Railroad Plaza at 4 p.m. both nights through 8:30 p.m.

• Dec. 10 — Holiday Tour of Homes. Celebrate Tucumcari’s businesses and homes decked for the Christmas season. Prizes will be offered for indoors and outdoors décor. • Dec. 16 — Quay Community Choir cantata. The free annual performance at Center Street United Methodist Church is back after a three-year absence due to the pandemic. 7 p.m., 406 E. Center St., Tucumcari.
