Five Logan High School players earned Class 1A all-state honors last week, including junior pitcher and shortstop Kaeden Stoner, who was named Player of the Year.
Other Longhorns who landed first-team all-state honors were senior catcher Park Strong, freshman first baseman Mason Wallin, freshman outfielder Aydin Kotara and sophomore outfielder Diego Sanchez.
As a pitcher, Stoner sported an 0.95 ERA with 86 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings. As a hitter, Stoner hit .455 with 19 RBI and a team-high 44 runs scored.
It was the second straight season that Stoner earned all-state honors. Stoner also played a sizable role in Logan's state-championship seasons in 2021 and 2022.
Strong hit .565 with a team-high 14 doubles, five triples and a .956 slugging average. As a catcher, he led the team with a .994 fielding average. It was the third time Strong earned all-state honors, and he was Class 1A's Player of the Year last season.
Wallin led the Longhorns in batting average (.613), home runs (2), hits (46) and RBI (47).
Kotara hit .462, led the team in stolen bases (29) and was second in runs scored (42).
Sanchez hit .477 and tied for the team lead in home runs (2). He was third on the squad in RBI (31) and slugging percentage (.738).
Logan pitcher Brock Burns earned second-team honors with a 2.94 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 31 innings.
The Longhorns finished with a 19-1 record during the season, suffering their only loss in the Class 1A championship game to district rival Melrose.
Melrose also saw five players earn first-team all-state honors. Buffaloes coach Jared Wilhoit also was named Coach of the Year.
Other area players who earned all-state honors were pitcher Zane Rush and utility player Deakin Ragland, both of Grady.
Grady teammate Jayce Garrett was a second-team selection as an infielder.
