Filing for November election begins Tuesday

Next Tuesday, Aug. 29, will be filing day at the Quay County Courthouse for those running in the November election for local seats.

The Quay County Clerk’s Office at 300 S. Third St. in Tucumcari will accept filings from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.

Quay County Clerk Ellen White said a declaration of candidacy is required for run for office. Those forms are available at her office or on the New Mexico Secretary of State’s website at sos.nm.gov before Tuesday and during the filing day itself.

These entities have available seats for the Nov. 7 election:

— Village of Logan

— Village of San Jon

— Village of House

— Tucumcari Municipal Schools

— Logan Municipal Schools

— San Jon Municipal Schools

— House Municipal Schools

— Mesalands Community College

— Canadian Soil & Water District

— Southwest Quay Soil & Water District

— Grady Municipal Schools

— Melrose Municipal Schools

Early voting for the election will begin Oct. 10, with hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday in the weeks leading up to the election.

Early voting hours on the Saturday before Election Day will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
