Serving the High Plains
Dyson Clark, a member of the Tucumcari FFA Chapter, recently earned a prestigious American FFA Degree.
Clark was awarded his degree during the 96th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis on Nov. 4.
Only six members in the history of the Tucumcari chapter have achieved the honor. The others were Jonathan Clark in 2021, Tianna Peterson in 2021, Brandon Sours in 2008, Randy Worley in 1983 and Melvin Reynolds in 1973.
The award recognizes demonstrated ability and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing or service programs.
To be eligible, FFA members must have earned and productively invested $10,000 through a supervised agricultural experience program in where they own their own business or hold a professional position as an employee.
Recipients also must complete 50 hours community service and demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and civic involvement through completion of a long list of FFA and community activities.
Less than 1% of FFA members achieve the American FFA Degree.
Each American FFA Degree recipient receives a gold American FFA Degree key and certificate after being recognized at the national convention.
