The filing day for candidates in New Mexico’s June primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12.
The Quay County Clerk’s Office in Tucumcari recently issued a new release, reminding prospective local candidates what they must do to properly file.
Each candidate must bring this information:
— Declaration of candidacy that’s completed and notarized;
— Copy of the candidate campaign committee registration form that’s been completed online;
— Nominating petitions (if required);
— Filing fee or pauper’s statement (for county candidates only);
— Financial disclosure statement (if required);
— Affidavit of designee for filing (if someone is filing not he behalf of a candidate).
All required forms for filing day are available on the New Mexico Secretary of State’s website or from the county clerk’s office
The filing period will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 12 in the clerk’s office at 300 S. Third St. in Tucumcari at the Quay County Courthouse.
These offices will be up for the June 4 primary election:
— President of the United States (four-year term);
— U.S. senator (six-year term);
— Three U.S. representatives (two-year terms);
— 42 members of the state senate (four-year terms);
— 70 members of the state house of representatives (two-year terms);
— District 8 of Public Education Commission (four-year term);
— District 10 district attorney (four-year term);
— Districts 1 and 2 of the Quay County commission (four-year term);
— County clerk (four-year term);
— County assessor (filling unexpired term);
— County treasurer (four-year term).
Write-in candidates for the primary can file on March 19.
