Tree project offering Arbor Day Foundation memberships

The Tucumcari Oasis Tree Project helping in the beautification of Tucumcari by offering memberships to the Arbor Day Foundation.

The fee is $10 and each person receives 10 free trees.

Rebecca Blakeney started the project. She said when she moved to Tucumcari in September and saw the community had been planting trees around the town, she wanted to help the community with getting more trees planted.

Blakeney said the the elementary school needs some of their trees replaced and there are some other places around town in need of trees.

Yvette Fazekas said the city would offer her a place for delivery of the trees and they were encouraging Blakeney with this project to help beautify Tucumcari.

Blakeney will be one of the vendors this weekend at the Christmas Expo, offering more information on the tree project.
