Interstate 40 reopened to traffic

Interstate 40 eastbound from Albuquerque to Amarillo was reopened at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday after being closed on Monday from heavy snowfall.

More than 19 inches of snowfall and high wind gust of over 50 miles per hour halted Texas Department of Transportation's efforts to clear I-40 Monday forcing the closure of eastbound traffic from Albuquerque to the Texas State Line.

State police advise opened westbound traffic from Tucumcari to Santa Rosa late Monday afternoon on I-40.

NM Highway 209 from Tucumcari to Grady and Clovis and NM Highway 469 from San Jon to Grady and Clovis were also reopened Tuesday morning.
