Driving on main roads 'difficult,' snow to diminish by late morning

The New Mexico Dept. of Transportation reports difficult driving on the following roadways, as of 7:30 a.m. Monday:

I-40, Clines Corners to Colonias: Roadway is snow packed and icy. Crews are out plowing, salting and cindering. Please drive with caution and reduce speed in this area.

US 54, Tucumcari to Nara Visa: Roadway is snow packed and icy. Crews are out plowing, salting and cindering. Please drive with caution and reduce speed.

NM 39, Logan to Abbott: Roadway is snow packed and icy. Crews are out plowing, salting and cindering. Please drive with caution and reduce your speed in this area.

NM 209, Grady to Tucumcari: Roadway is snow packed and icy with light snow. Crews are out plowing, salting and cindering. Please drive with caution and reduce speed.

The National Weather service predicts that spotty snow in northeast New Mexico will diminish by mid to late morning with generally dry conditions in the afternoon. A band or

two of snow may still generate one to very locally two inches between Clovis and Santa Rosa through mid-morning with lesser amounts in most other locations.
