Mesalands named among most affordable schools

Mesalands Community College has been named among the top 10 in a listing of the 50 most affordable community colleges in the nation by AffordableColleges.com, the community college announced in a news release.

Mesalands was ranked seventh in the nation with an average in-state tuition of $1,152 per semester and a 47-percent institutional financial aid rate. Meslalands’ academics, accreditation, campus culture and distance learning options were also considered in this study, the news release said.

AffordableColleges.com's mission is to provide prospective college students with the most accurate and relevant information on making higher education more cost-effective, according to the website.

The site provide ranked lists of the most affordable options, based on school type and articles about affordability trends.

“We strive to provide an affordable quality education for our students,” said Thomas Newsom, president of Mesalands. “We are honored to be included in this list, and Mesalands will continue to provide a variety of financial aid opportunities for our students.”
