• Have a happy Easter, but before the kids dive into the jelly beans on Easter morning, don’t forget Tucumcari’s Community Egg Hunt on Saturday.

The 10th Annual Community-wide children's Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Tucumcari Elementary School playground beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Children from infants to fifth grade will comb the playground to reveal more than 12,000 hidden eggs. Bring your own baskets.

The annual hunt is hosted by First Assembly of God Church in Tucumcari.

• Jumping ahead a week, parents of young children from infancy to four years old should plan to take their children to the Tucumcari Elementary School kindergarten registration and “child find,” at 9 a.m. April 10 The child find is a series of developmental pre-screening tests that can determine whether a child will need additional assistance in preparing for school.

Also on April 10, the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce holds its annual fundraiser dinner and silent auction with the theme “Sunset in the West.” There will be a prime rib dinner, dancing to the Danny Cadra Band, and the silent auction. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., dancing at 9 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner and dance are $35 each; for the dance only, $10 each.
