Serving the High Plains

Workshop will help shoppers be savvy

Staff Report

Shoppers will learn tips for navigating the stores and Internet to avoid impulse purchases and save money on March 24 at a Savvy Shopper Worshop held at the Quay County Extension Office.

The workshop will enable people to look at how stores track purchases and market to buyers based on that information, said Brenda Bishop, county extension home economist.

Bishop said this information packed workshop will be held twice and will share several cost cutting options including how to safely make purchases on-line. She said the program will be offered as a lunch and learn from 12:10-12:50 p.m.; attendees are asked to bring a sack lunch and the extension office will provide the iced tea.

Bishop said if people prefer a more relaxed program, a 1:30-2:30 p.m. event will have the same information presented at a slower speed.

This workshop is free to the public. For more information, or if you are a person who needs an auxiliary service to participate in this program, contact Bev Lake at 575-461-0562.
