MainStreet to hold retailer workshop

In an effort to assist local retailers become more successful the Tucumcari MainStreet in conjunction with the New Mexico MainStreet and the Small Business Development Center at Mesalands Community College, is sponsoring a free workshop for merchandising.

The two hour workshop will be held at 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., on June 29 at the North American Wind Research and Training Center at Mesalands.

The workshop, entitled "Merchandising for MainStreet Retailers," is designed to help MainStreet retailers sell more product and attract more customers, said Gail Houser, MainStreet executive director.

Houser said the information provided at the workshop can help retailers sell more products, attract new customers and help to develop models and tools for the business to become more competitive.

The workshop will help new business owners, retailers, staff, managers:

•Develop merchandise plans and manage inventory for sales and profitability.

• Assess retail space, including floor plans that maximize customer circulation, merchandise presentation, and strategies for layout, design, and lighting, and window displays.

• Image development and how to reach target customers and attract them to your business through visual presentation.
