No cases of COVID-19 were reported in Quay County for the second straight week. The total number in the county since the pandemic began in spring 2020 stood at 2,003. According to state epidemiology reports, Quay County’s COVID-19 case rate dropped to 1.6 new cases per 100,000 people from April 19 to May 2, compared to 3.3 during the previous period. Tucumcari recorded more than $181,000 in cannabis sales in April, the first month recreational marijuana could be legally sold in New Mexico. More than $147,000 in those sales were listed as adult use, according to data supplied to the Quay County Sun by the state’s Cannabis Control Division. That was more than 81% of the total.
