  • Laurialt: Sometimes God needs to discipline his children

    Leonard Lauriault Religion columnist|Oct 2, 2012

Sometimes it takes a real knock to the head for us to pick up on a concept. That literally came to my mind recently. You see, I've always been bothered by the sun shining through the windshield between the visors. No matter how the visor is tilted or angled, it still doesn't completely block out the sun and I have to reposition my body to avoid the glare, sometimes uncomfortably. While getting back into the car after fueling up recently, I bumped my head against what had been an almost perfectly positioned sun visor and felt it move away from m... Full story

In their first three games, they earned more than 250 yards of... Full story

    Thomas Garcia QCS Senior Writer|Oct 2, 2012

Coach Wayne Ferguson said it's determination and character that have gotten the Rattlers to their best start in seven seasons. Turnovers helped, too. Host Tucumcari scored 21 points off Fox turnovers, including the only two touchdowns in the fourth quarter of a 28-14 win over Fort Sumner that puts Tucumcari at 5-0. Saul Moriel had a 65-yard interception return on the first play of the fourth quarter to put the Rattlers the lead for good, and Dillon Wood iced matters with a 1-yard run following a Luke Smith interception. Smith also set up a... Full story

  • Spaceport investment not paying off

    Albuquerque Journal|Oct 2, 2012

It's located in the southern New Mexico desert, far from most New Mexicans' homes, but its $209 million taxpayer-funded price tag should keep it close to the front of voters' and legislators' minds. Because so far the investment isn't paying off when it comes to launching a competitive product in the exploding market of commercial space travel. Spaceport America is still trying to get other ancillary companies to join Virgin Galactic and two rocket companies that send vertical payloads into space. Until that happens, is it any wonder the only...

  • Moncus: Traveling by train still preferred

    Lynn Moncus QCS columnist|Oct 2, 2012

The phone rang bright and early Sunday morning and Mickey Page got my attention by saying she was calling from a dining car as she wended her way to the Midwest via train. She knew she would cause a major fit of jealousy by telling me she was having breakfast and just enjoying watching the scenery slip by. Actually, I had never received a call from anyone traveling by train. That in itself caused a few thoughts about the past and about how much the early travelers would have enjoyed hearing from friends and relatives as they rode along. Of...
