Last day for school board elections nears

The last day to vote early in Quay County school board elections is Friday.

The election will be held Tuesday.

In addition to school board candidates, voters in Tucumcari will vote on whether to continue general obligations bonds that help fund school buildings, computers and programs for student use and providing matching funds for grants, among other purposes.

The amount of the bonds is up to $3 million, according to election documents.

Superintendent Aaron McKinney has said these bonds will not increase taxes.

Contested positions include position two in Logan, where James Lee Valentine and Tommy J. Bruhn are competing for school board seats, and the District 5 race in Tucumcari, where Todd H. Smith, Evelyn C. Hayes and Judy Frances Martinez are running.

Polling places include:

San Jon: The San Jon Community Center, 2357 State Highway 469, San Jon.

Logan: Logan Civic Center, 100 N. Second St., Logan, and Nara Visa Community Center, 950 Bell St., Nara Visa.

House: House Community Center, 110 S. Apple St., House.

Tucumcari, all districts: Voter Convenience Center, Tucumcari Convention Center, 1500 W. Rt. 66 Blvd., Tucumcari.
